On Queensland\u2019s Central Highlands near Emerald, Matt Lawrence is farming at serious scale, and like many growers in the region, efficiency and chemical savings are front of mind.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Running a mixed operation of sorghum, wheat and chickpeas alongside cattle at Lilyvale, Matt now farms around 10,000 acres, having expanded significantly in recent years. With that growth came the need for a smarter, more practical approach to weed control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe wanted something practical \u2014 the ability to tow it behind, run blanket or camera spraying, and even run both rigs at the same time.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

About 12 months ago, Matt added a WEED\u2011IT <\/strong>GroundGlider 7000 to his operation through Croplands, keen to trial camera\u2011based spraying alongside other units he uses for traditional blanket application. For Matt, the flexibility of the system stood out straight away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe option to run camera spraying or blanket spraying \u2014 or both \u2014 just made sense,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It gives us control depending on conditions and what we’re trying to achieve.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Ease of use was another key factor. From the cab, Matt says the system is intuitive and straightforward, making it easy to get up and running without unnecessary complexity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe machine itself is simple to use,\u201d he explains. \u201cOnce you get into it, everything just makes sense.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GroundGlider\u2019s tank capacity has also proven valuable as the business has expanded, allowing longer spraying runs and helping reduce overall chemical usage across the farm. Combined with stable booms designed to avoid ground strike, it\u2019s been a reliable fit for their country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Support has been just as important. Matt works closely with Croplands dealer Western Mechanical<\/strong>, praising the backup from the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf you need anything, Western Mechanical are there for you \u2014 and if they can\u2019t get a part straight away, you can always annoy Lachie.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
