FARMER’S WEED-IT UPGRADE PAYS OFF

22 AUGUST 2025

In Biloela, Central Queensland, Raymond Wilkie is farming over 3,500 hectares of cotton, sorghum, mung beans, wheat, barley, and chickpeas. With expanding operations and tougher weed challenges, Raymond needed a smarter solution—and found it in the WEED-IT.

Without the WEED-IT, I probably wouldn’t be able to farm the way we do. It’s a game changer”

— Raymond Wilkie, Biloela, Queensland

Raymond first adopted WEED-IT in 2019 during a dry spell, when blanket spraying wasn’t worth the cost. The results were immediate: significant chemical savings and better control of hard-to-kill weeds like feather top and fleabane.

Fast forward to today, and Raymond has upgraded to a 36-metre WEED-IT Quadro with ISO compatibility, section control, and coverage mapping – a bigger and smarter move.

“The chemical savings were unbelievable. And the job it was doing was chalk and cheese compared to blanket spraying,” he said.

Raymond also credits Lachie Coom from Croplands for making the transition smooth. From quoting to calibration, Lachie’s support helped tailor the machine to Raymond’s controlled traffic setup and transport needs.

“We don’t think any other technology replicates what WEED-IT does. It works really, really well for us,” Raymond said.
